Is
There Room For Your Online Business?
Have you
ever browsed thru the virtual sea of eStores and
Auctions on the internet and thought to yourself,
'Dang, am I a fool for trying to start my own online
business when there are SO MANY other people already
doing it?" I mean, there are hundreds of thousands
of online retailers and it's growing every day...is
there really room for me and my new business?
It's hard to comprehend how 'big' the online
marketplace really is at first. It's almost like
being a child again and trying to comprehend how
there is more than just your house and city. There
are other houses with people and cities with more
houses and people and states with even more cities,
houses and people and countries...well you get the
idea. The world is a big place, with more people
than most of us can truly comprehend...and the
internet is no different.
When you start to really consider how massive the
internet is, how many hundreds of millions of people
use it, you begin to see the potential it holds for
an online seller. It's a marketplace like no other.
And here's the thing, it's impossible for any stores
to monopolize their niche because it's impossible
for anyone to attract ALL of the shoppers looking
for the products they sell.
Different Keywords, Different Results: Search
engines bring up stores based on what keywords are
typed in. Type in different keywords into a search
engine and you'll get different search results, i.e.
different stores. Online Shoppers use many different
keywords to shop for the same product so there can
be many online stores selling the same product...and
they all make sales.
Many Search Engines, Many Avenues: Don't
think that just because you see lots of stores
setting up shop on Google selling what you want to
sell that means the market is saturated. There are
tons of Search Engines with millions of shoppers who
are taken to stores that you won't find on Google.
Stores that are thriving. There are so many avenues
that shoppers can and DO take to get to online
stores and new sellers can capitalize on this.
More Shoppers than Sellers: Not everyone
wants to be a retailer when they grow up. Being a
Retailer, a business owner, is a career path that
isn't for everyone. There are more shoppers than
retailers in the 'real world' and it's no different
online. There will *always* be more shoppers than
sellers.
Now, don't get me wrong, there is a lot more to
being successful with an online business than simply
starting one but don't ever get scared into thinking
that there isn't room for you as a new seller. There
is and always will be for the eBiz owner who takes
time to educate and apply themselves.
